For me, it began one Christmas morning when I opened up The Betty Crocker Easy Bake Oven. Mixing powder with tap water in a tiny little pan and pushing it through the "oven" (aka a box with a lightbulb) produced my very first chocolate cake and I haven't stopped since! It was just the beginning of a most beloved journey.
Throughout the years, I continued to bake both personally and professionally. With a background in art, decorating cakes and other treats was second nature. Customers would often wait until my shifts began for the personalized touches they wanted.
I believe the dessert isn't a simple element of a celebration, it's the star of the show! No matter the occasion, people want the very best and with unique details that express their own personality. Venturing out on my own has allowed me to accommodate my customers and allow their individual creativity to be expressed. My top priority is not only your satisfaction but your delight with the finished product.
I think it's important for customers to feel comfortable with where their food is created, baked and stored. I am based in Waleska, GA. I've passed strict guidelines from our County Health Dept. and Georgia Dept. of Agriculture as well as completing the educational classes required to obtain a Cottage Food License. I am both licensed and insured.
Having worked in professional bakeries, I'm familiar with and practice those rigorous standards in my own kitchen. Sanitized surfaces, proper storage and refrigeration, gloves, fresh aprons and masks and overall cleanliness is a must with me.
Fresh ingredients and top of the line food sources are how my cookies develop their incredible taste. I usually make my own butter, buttermilk and cream cheese. I purchase my eggs from a local farm here in the Waleska area. I grow herbs and buy many of my fruits from the local farmer's markets. I use only pure extracts and spices.
When a customer wonders why my baked goods taste so different than store bought, I simply point out how important the "foundation" is to begin with. No matter how well a baked good is decorated, the bottom line is taste. One of the surest ways to great taste is fresh, quality ingredients.
